COPES October NEWS 2020
Hello! Happy October to you all.
Another month with no face to face meetings, another month with new members to COPES. We sincerely wish all the new members who have been diagnosed since the COVID-19 virus outbreak, all the very best. We hope that your treatment goes well. Please keep in touch. There’s a lot we can do to support you, whether you’re waiting for treatment, or currently having therapy or are recovering from surgery. Do let us know how things are going, via our email, website, Facebook pages or phone.
We look forward to meeting you one day. However, it may not be until next spring, with cases rising. The hospital, of course, is unable to support meetings there while this virus is still amongst us. The COPES committee support the hospital staff’s and the volunteer coordinator’s policies and are not willing to put anyone’s health at risk.
However……..Do you ZOOM?
(A message for COPES members)
We’re thinking of trying out a virtual coffee morning/Zoom session.
We need to decide if it’s going to be a popular thing to do, so please email me back to see if you’d like to join us. It will be a try-out at first, and we’ll have to have some rules…like not all talking at once! (Sue, Chris and I have been having a few Zoom meetings and learned this one the hard way). So let us know if you’d like to join us. If it proves popular, we may take turns to host the session, and maybe vary the days and times.
Our first one is Wednesday October 14thth between 11:00 and 11:45.
Email Sue as soon as you have downloaded and set up ZOOM, but before Tuesday 13th, to get the Zoom link and password. Sue is hosting this one.
WHAT ELSE HAS BEEN GOING ON?
During the lockdown we’ve been discussing what items that COPES can buy to help to fund extra resources for women who are diagnosed and treated for gynae cancers. We had an enquiry from the CNS and consultant teams about a couple of things that they could use and we are waiting to find out more about these. Watch this space…
