COPES May NEWS 2024

COME TO OUR MAY COFFEE MORNING AND SUPPORT GROUP

It’s on Saturday May 4th between 10am and 1.00pm at the EKCO Sports and Social Club, Thornford Gardens. SS2 6PU.

DINNER DANCE

We had a fabulous time at the Dinner Dance and raised a grand total of £900 for COPES funds.

Our thanks to all who came along to support us. The staff at

The Roslin Beach Hotel, deserve a special mention, they were so very helpful.

We also thank the following for generous donations to our Luxury Raffle –

The Roslin Beach Hotel; 6 Salon of Leigh; M&S foodstore, Canvey Island;

Sophisti-Cakes Canvey Island ; Morrison’s Canvey Island; Sarah Dickinson (in memory of her sister, Anne Goward); Jo Bevan; Pat Beckwith; Chris Waite; Gill Ashcroft and other COPES members.

We hope that everyone had a lovely evening at the Dinner Dance.

Thanks to Sue and Denise who did such sterling work in organising this event.

We are very grateful for the generous way in which COPES was supported through donations and ticket sales. We were delighted to raise so much for COPES funds, largely through the sale of raffle tickets and the generosity of those who donated such wonderful raffle prizes.

Thanks also to Dawn for her tireless work in selling the raffle tickets.

WIGS AND SCARVES

Thanks to Tina, who is Jan Slatford’s daughter, for her generous donation of wigs and scarves to a wonderful charity, run by Julie Waker at St Luke’s Hospice, Basildon. Julie reconditions and renovates wigs and has many scarves which are for sale, very reasonably priced, for a donation to The Wig Bank. Julie offers an individual, confidential service.

For more info or to book a consultation, phone Julie on 07941 396992.

Saying Farewell – Congratulations to CNS, Liz Lawrence, who will be leaving the team in June. Liz is moving on to a new challenge, introducing an innovative Genomics project to Essex, following up work she undertook for her successful MA. We will be very sad to see Liz leave but she will keep in touch.

Saying ‘Hello’. Our longstanding member, Margaret, has kindly offered a ‘PhoneFriend option for anyone wanting a chat. Margaret is no longer able to attend COPES events but is always willing to be a friendly voice on the phone for any of our members who want a chat. If you would like Margaret’s number, just contact us on our COPESPHONE 07546 316735
