COPES March NEWS 2024

Our next support group/coffee morning will be at the Ekco Sports and Social Club (SS2 6PU) on Saturday March 2nd from 10am to 1pm. Drop in anytime. NEW MEMBERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME.

We look forward to welcoming our volunteer reiki therapist, Sandra. Don’t forget to sign in for a therapist session. Therapy sessions last for 20-30 minutes.

COPES donates to The Hospital’s Spotlight Appeal.

It was lovely to welcome Kayley Donovan, from the hospital’s charity dept. to our February Coffee Morning and donate £2,000 to this exciting appeal for extra special radiotherapy equipment.

Thanks, COPES members, friends & family for donating all those 5p pots

DINNER DANCE. 24.4.24.

From 6.30 pm to midnight at the Roslin Beach Hotel

Please let us know if you’re intending to register interest. We have to have a minimum number of participants in order to make this event viable. We need to know final numbers during March, so please contact Denise or Sue to register, state menu preferences and pay. We still have places available, so contact us via the website if you’d like to come.

We, on the Executive Committee do a whole range of jobs to ensure the smooth running of activities, events and communications within COPES.

However, we need help!

We are all volunteers.

Sue, our secretary, has been doing the job of temporary treasurer for around 5 years and the workload is becoming too difficult to manage, given her various other commitments away from COPES.

Do any COPES members know of anyone (not necessarily a COPES member) who may be willing to help us, by being a volunteer treasurer? We are happy to pay expenses and, depending on support offered, possibly an honorarium.

The activities that we need help with are:

  • Maintaining and updating cash records on an Excel spreadsheet
  • Counting and banking cash after COPES events
  • Paying cash in to our bank (currently Barclays but we are actively considering transferring our account to another bank)
  • Liaising with executive members to compile a yearly AGM report and brief updates for our quarterly management committee meetings.

As things stand at present, Sue will be resigning from the job of treasurer in April 2024, remaining as our secretary and executive committee member.
