COPES February NEWS 2022

A new venue for our Coffee Mornings….

The Ekco Sports and Social Club

Thornford Gardens. SS2 6PU

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 5th from 10.00 to 13.00

We were thrilled with the welcome from the committee and the facilities at the Ekco Sports and Social Club, when we held our Coffee Morning there on January 8th. Those COPES members who attended, remarked on the atmosphere, space, comfort, cleanliness and convenience for parking and bus access (no 9 bus). We will continue to use this venue for the foreseeable future and look forward to welcoming more of you there in future months. It would be really helpful, for catering purposes, if you could let us know if you’re able to attend. We won’t hold you to it, but —

……….it’s useful to estimate how many cakes we need!

In view of the high number of Covid cases in our area, we thought it would be opportune to update our guidelines for attendance at the Coffee Morning. Although the Government Advice has changed, there are still some vulnerable members who would prefer a safer approach.

We recommend that all members and guests take a lateral flow test on the morning of the event to protect the welfare of any of our members who are going through treatment. Please wear a mask if you wish. It is totally discretionary. Please remember hand sanitiser and social distancing recommendations.

We have had an email from the CNS team. Their managers and infection control teams have recommended that they should not attend our meetings at the moment, due to adding additional exposure within their role by attending the group. They are very sorry to have to take this step and will keep the situation under review as the months and infection levels progress. There will be no nurse presence at the Coffee Morning this month.

We wish to protect all our members, including the CNS team, and ask for your patience with this situation. Some of you may feel unsure of attending, and we completely understand this. It would really help our future planning if you could please let us know, by return email, how you feel about attending COPES Coffee Mornings/Support Groups in future months.
