Charity Football Match
Two young men, James and Ben, having met a COPES committee member, Stacey, through one of their girlfriends, were so impressed with Stacey’s enthusiasm for the COPES cause, that they decided to try to raise some funds for us. They looked at using The Southend United ground, but it was a prohibitive price. Eventually they talked to their contact, a football coach. He helped them out.
What generosity!
James and Ben met with the committee to plan the event. They paid for all the fees and the kit out of their own money, saying that it was for a great cause.
The match was held on Saturday June 16th at The Chase School, during the PlayFootball Club.
It was well-attended, the sun shone and everyone had a great time.
We would like to pay tribute to James’ and Ben’s organisational skills as well as their enthusiasm. Their friends and some family members and supporters turned up to play, so it was a lovely afternoon.
They raised £280.50. This is so much appreciated by COPES.
Thank You to all who took part, and to James and Ben for thinking of us.
Well done to all who took part, it was our very own COPES CUP!
