Our February Coffee Morning/Support Group
is on Saturday February 4th, from 10.00 – 13.00
at the Ekco Sports and Social Club, Thornford Gardens, Southend. SS2 6PU.
All being well, Rachel will be attending the session. We look forward to seeing her.
All our usual support, is available, free to anyone who has been diagnosed with a gynae cancer, no matter when. Guaranteed…..a warm welcome, light-hearted chat, news, support, cakes, raffle and a relaxation session will be on offer for those who wish to join in. We are always very pleased to see new members.
We also look forward to welcoming Sam, from Silvertime Legal, for an optional talk, in a separate room from the main get together, lasting for 1 hour including a Q&A session, from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
Sam will talk to anyone who is interested about recent changes to inheritance tax, and the way that care home fees could affect this; he will explain lasting power of attorney and how setting up a trust may be a better solution to protecting your assets.
There will be no selling at this session and there is guaranteed to be no pressure on anyone to join or agree to anything. It is for your information only.
Sad News.
It is with great sadness that we have to tell you that a much loved, long-time COPES member, Jan Slatford, has passed away. Many of you will remember Jan for her wonderful sense of fun, her generosity of spirit, bravery and positivity, her support for all things related to COPES and her fundraising ‘Brave Shaves’, where she raised over £5,000 for COPES.
We’ll miss Jan and we send our sincere sympathy to her family & friends.
Jan’s funeral is on Tuesday February 7th at 11.15 at the large chapel, Southend Crematorium.
If you would like to pay your respects at the funeral, could you let me know by text or voicemail on the COPES phone (07546 316735) so that Jan’s family can plan the seating arrangements. Any friend and COPES member is welcome.
